The University of Calabar has announced plans to offer employment opportunities to first-class graduates in critical areas of need within the institution.

The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Offiong Efanga, made this known, on Thursday, during the 38th Convocation Ceremony for the award of Diplomas, First Degrees, and Master’s Degrees, as well as the induction of graduates into the UNICAL Alumni Association.

He explained that the initiative is aimed at retaining and nurturing the institution’s brightest minds.
“I am pleased to announce that this administration will offer employment to first-class graduates in critical areas of need within the university, thereby returning and nurturing our brightest minds.” He said

Professor Efanga also presented the statistics of the graduating students, commending them for their resilience, which he described as essential for making meaningful contributions to society.

“Today we celebrate a total of 743 masters’ degree graduates, 9173 first degree graduates, and 152 diploma students. To our graduates, your success is a testament to resilient discipline, intellectual commitment you carry with you, not just certificate but the responsibility to contribute meaningfully to society.” the VC added.

Also speaking at the event, the Chancellor of the university and former Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, expressed satisfaction with the quality and value of graduates produced by the institution.
” Today we gather to celebrate another cohort of graduates, individuals who have passed through the rigorous process of intellectual and moral formation and who have been found worthy in both character and learning.” he noted.
