A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Cross River State Okon Eyibio has commended the Governor of Cross River State Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, for the infrastructural development experienced in the state
Eyibio during a chat with our correspondent disclosed this in reaction to the recent flagging off of work at Adiabo in Odukpani local government of the state.
A development which he said will improve economic activities at the local government area, and equally improve business activities between Cross River and Akwa Ibom State.
“I am happy with the activities of the Governor, especially with the flag off of Adiabo Ikon Eto road, which will opens up the economy of Odukpani Local Government and by extension the entire Southern Senatorial District”
“It has been a project that has been long overdue, I am happy for what the governor have done, he is careful to handle things that people are yearning for and I pray God continue to give him the fortune to do the right thing “.
Okon who was a onetime Councilior, expressed his support for the conduct of Local Government elections in Cross River State, but however, urged agitators to give the governor time to prepare for a more organized election in the state
“It is very important to conduct Local Government election, because Local Government is the closest tier of government to the grassroots, so if there is elected Local Government officers in place it will minimize certain things”
“If we think of conducting Local Government election now, the governor has to fix somethings before he can think of conducting Local Government election”
“There are procedures, I am in support of the conduct of Local Government election, but there are certain things that should be put in place, so that it will be properly done “.
Recall that the Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC), had given the state governor 3 months ultimatum to conduct the local government election, a development that has raised reaction from different political parties in the state.
